About the role
We’re Checkout.com – you might not know our name, but companies like eBay, ASOS, Klarna, Uber Eats, and Sony do. That moment when you check out online? We make it happen.
Checkout.com is where the world checks out. Our global network powers billions of transactions every year, making money move without making a fuss. We spent years perfecting a service most people will never notice. Because when digital payments just work, businesses grow, customers stay, and no one stops to think about why.
With 19 offices spanning six continents, we feel at home everywhere – but London is our HQ. Wherever our people work their magic, they’re fast-moving, performance-obsessed, and driven by being better every day. Ideal. Because a role here isn’t just another job; it’s a career-defining opportunity to build the future of fintech.
Job Description
As a Data Operations Analyst II, you will take ownership of critical data workflows and serve as a strategic data partner to the Operations, Compliance, and Finance organizations. You will move beyond simple request fulfillment to designing scalable data solutions, acting as a bridge between business stakeholders and the technical BI/Analytics teams. You will be expected to identify process inefficiencies, automate reporting at scale, and mentor junior analysts in best practices.
What you will be doing:
Own and Optimize Data Workflows - managing syncs, architecting and maintaining complex data pipelines and automation workflows. You will proactively identify bottlenecks in data delivery and implement solutions to reduce manual intervention.
Design, build, and maintain high-impact, interactive dashboards (using tools like Looker, BigQuery etc.) that drive decision-making for executive leadership. You will be responsible for "telling the story" behind the data, not just displaying the numbers.
Lead the definition of data quality standards. You will perform root-cause analysis on data discrepancies, implement automated alerts for anomalies, and work directly with Engineering/BI to fix upstream data issues permanently.
Act as the primary data consultant for specific Operations, Compliance and Finance verticals.
Lead small to medium-sized data projects from conception to delivery, managing timelines and stakeholder expectations without heavy supervision.
Provide guidance and technical support to Analyst I team members, assisting with code reviews (SQL) and best practices for data visualization.
About You:
Bachelor's degree in a quantitative field (CS, Math, Economics, Engineering) or equivalent practical experience.
2–4 years of experience in an analytical or data operations role, ideally within Fintech, Payments, or a high-growth tech environment.
Advanced proficiency in SQL is required (window functions, complex joins, query optimization).
Proven expertise in building complex dashboards in Looker, Tableau, or similar.
Basic proficiency in Python/R for scripting or data manipulation is highly desirable.
Strong understanding of data modeling concepts (star schema, snowflake) and experience translating vague business questions into precise technical requirements.
Ability to explain complex technical data constraints to non-technical stakeholders and negotiate scope effectively.
You don't just fix the report; you fix the process so the report doesn't break again.
Bring all of you to work
We create the conditions for high performers to thrive – through real ownership, fewer blockers, and work that makes a difference from day one.
Here, you’ll move fast, take on meaningful challenges, and be recognized for the impact you deliver. It’s a place where ambition gets met with opportunity – and where your growth is in your hands.
We work as one team, and we back each other to succeed. So whatever your background or identity, if you’re ready to grow and make a difference, you’ll be right at home here.
It’s important we set you up for success and make our process as accessible as possible. So let us know in your application, or tell your recruiter directly, if you need anything to make your experience or working environment more comfortable.
