LSEG seeks a Market Analyst - Shipping with programming skills in Python to join our international team.
WHY IS THIS JOB IMPORTANT
You will involved in running data flow processes including vessel, vessel movements, ports and trade flows. The role will assist in the organization and validation of shipping datasets to be integrated into our main shipping models and creating shipping market insight reports through data visualisation showcasing a range of shipping and commodities datapoints.
The shipping research team covers dry bulk, oil, LPG, LNG and container markets and use a mixture of algorithmic analysis and primary data source to identify trends and signals in the market.
The team collaborates across wider cross asset team based in London, Houston, Dubai, Singapore, Mumbai. Our customers worldwide rely on our expertise to make their trading and investment decisions.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
Ensure data integrity: collaborate with wider team to validate the vessel and port data are up to date Generate, review and publish regular shipping reports and ad-hoc special reports
Provide data insight through visual analytic dashboards
Build new data flows Analyse vessel movements and trends, explain them to wide range of customers globally
Connect with customers on data or market explanation queries.
REQUIRED SKILLS
Shipping industry validated experience is a must Commodities shipping market knowledge will be an advantage
Proficiency in use of analytical software (Excel) and experience with programming (ex. Python, VBA or equivalent) and Power BI
Superlative written and spoken communication skills
Analytical and structured thinking with ability to problem solving
Ability to work independently and in a collaborative fast paced environment
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Second-Mate Foreign Going or relevant shipping related qualification
Higher education in economics, business, mathematics or maritime/energy related degree.
