About the Role...

We're looking for a Data Operations Manager to take ownership of how data runs across the organisation - ensuring it is reliable, well-governed, and delivers real value to the business.

This is an operations-first role, focused on the performance, quality, and continuous improvement of our data ecosystem. You'll sit at the intersection of data engineering and the wider business, making sure data platforms are trusted, scalable, and aligned to business needs.

You won't be building pipelines from scratch, but you will be responsible for ensuring they run effectively, are well monitored, and continuously optimised. From defining SLAs and data quality standards to driving automation and governance, you'll play a key role in shaping how data is managed and used across the company.

Key Responsibilities...

  • Own the day-to-day performance of data operations, defining KPIs, SLAs, and success measures aligned to business objectives
  • Monitor and manage data pipelines and workflows, ensuring reliability, timely issue resolution, and high service standards
  • Lead data governance initiatives, including data quality frameworks, access controls, and compliance with policies and regulations (e.g. GDPR)
  • Drive continuous improvement across data processes, identifying and prioritising optimisation opportunities
  • Champion automation to improve efficiency, scalability, and resilience of data operations
  • Establish robust monitoring, alerting, and incident management practices
  • Conduct root cause analysis on data issues and ensure effective, long-term resolution
  • Partner with data engineering and business stakeholders to ensure data platforms support accurate, insight-driven decision making
  • Evaluate and implement tools and technologies that enhance data operations capabilities
  • Define and enforce documentation, testing, and operational readiness standards across data workflows
  • Act as the central point of contact for data operations, aligning priorities across technical and non-technical teams

About You...

  • Experience in a data operations, data platform, or similar role with a strong focus on reliability, quality, and performance
  • Strong understanding of data pipelines and workflows - you're comfortable working with engineers, even if you're not building solutions yourself
  • Proven experience implementing data governance frameworks, data quality standards, and compliance processes
  • Experience with monitoring, alerting, and incident management in a data or platform environment
  • A track record of driving operational improvements, automation, and efficiency at scale
  • Comfortable defining and working to SLAs, KPIs, and performance metrics
  • Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to translate business needs into data requirements
  • Experience working in cross-functional environments, acting as a bridge between technical and business teams
  • A structured, process-driven mindset with a focus on continuous improvement
  • Familiarity with data regulations (e.g. GDPR) and data security best practices
