About the role
About the role
Are you a commercially minded Data Analyst looking for a new challenge within a fast-moving, professional services environment?
At Cooper Parry, data is a strategic asset that underpins better decisions, stronger client outcomes, and scalable growth. As a Business Data Analyst within the Data & Analytics team, you will act as a critical bridge between the business and technical delivery teams.
You will work closely with service line leaders and operational teams to deeply understand their reporting requirements, data needs, and commercial drivers. You will translate these into clear, well-defined data use cases and requirements that align with both the Data & Analytics strategy and the wider Cooper Parry business strategy, with a relentless focus on delivering measurable value.
You'll be getting stuck into a wide range of tasks, including;
Business Analysis & Stakeholder Engagement
- Partner with service line leaders and teams (e.g. tax, audit, deals, consultancy) to understand their objectives, challenges, and decision‑making needs
- Elicit, document, and validate service‑line‑specific reporting requirements and data needs
- Facilitate workshops, interviews, and working sessions to uncover opportunities where data can drive value
Data Use Case Definition
- Translate business needs into clear, prioritised data use cases, user stories, and requirements
- Ensure use cases are aligned to the Data & Analytics roadmap and Cooper Parry’s strategic priorities
- Define success measures, benefits, and value hypotheses for data initiatives
Value & Outcome Focus
- Maintain a strong focus on business outcomes, not just data delivery
- Support the development of business cases and value tracking for data initiatives
- Help service lines understand how to interpret and act upon insights generated
Collaboration & Delivery Support
- Work closely with data engineers, analytics engineers, and BI developers to ensure requirements are clearly understood and delivered effectively
- Support solution design by providing business context and data definitions
- Act as a trusted advisor throughout delivery, from discovery through to adoption
Continuous Improvement
- Identify recurring patterns and opportunities to standardise reporting and data products across service lines
- Contribute to the development of common metrics, definitions, and data governance practices
- Champion data literacy and adoption across the business
About you
At Cooper Parry, we’re in it together. All we ask of our people is that they play all in. You’ll continuously strive to keep learning – whether you’re a trainee or a Partner – and you’ll be brave, stepping out of your comfort zone to tackle new challenges. Above all, be nice. A simple notion, but an irreplaceable part of what makes CP, CP.
In addition to those core values, you should also have:
- Strong experience in business analysis - ideally within a data, analytics, or BI context
- Proven ability to gather and translate business requirements into clear, structured data use cases
- Experience working with senior stakeholders and service‑line leaders
- Strong understanding of reporting, metrics, and performance management
- Commercially minded, with a clear focus on delivering tangible business value
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to bridge business and technical audiences
You’ll also ideally (but not essentially) have:
- Experience in professional services, consultancy, accounting, or financial services
- Familiarity with modern data platforms, BI tools (e.g. Power BI), and analytics concepts
- Experience working in agile or product‑centric delivery environments
- Understanding of data governance, data quality, and master data concepts
