About the role

Dains is continuing its rapid growth through acquisitions, creating a fast-paced and increasingly data-rich environment. To support this, we are looking for a proactive, commercially minded Data Analyst to join the Data team, reporting directly to the Head of Data.

This is a key role in delivering high-quality reporting, insight, and analytical solutions that inform decision-making across the business. You will collaborate closely with stakeholders across multiple functions, translating business requirements into impactful data products, while contributing to the ongoing development of our DataCube platform and broader reporting capability.

Key Responsibilities

Business Partnering & Requirements Gathering

  • Partner with stakeholders across the business to understand data and reporting requirements, translating them into clear analytical solutions
    Power BI Development
  • Design, build, and maintain Power BI dashboards and reports that provide actionable insights and support business performance tracking.
    Data Analysis & Insight Generation
  • Analyse large and complex datasets to identify trends, risks, and opportunities, presenting findings clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
    Data Warehouse Querying (Databricks/SQL)
  • Query and extract data from the central data warehouse using SQL, ensuring data accuracy and performance optimisation.
    Data Quality & Validation
  • Perform data validation and reconciliation to ensure consistency and accuracy across reports and MI packs.
    External Data Supplier Liaison
  • Engage with third-party data providers to request and scope new data feeds, enhancements, and data engineering changes
    Process Improvement & Automation
  • Identify opportunities to streamline reporting processes, improve data pipelines, and reduce manual effort.

Skills, Knowledge & Expertise

Experience

  • Proven experience in a Data Analyst or similar role
  • Experience working with large datasets and delivering business-facing insight
  • Experience within professional services or accounting environments is desirable
    Technical Skills
  • Strong Power BI development experience (data modelling, DAX, visual design)
  • Advanced SQL skills (ideally within Databricks/Spark or similar environments)
  • Experience working with data warehouses and structured data models
  • Working knowledge of Python for data analysis; exposure to machine learning techniques is advantageous
    Analytical & Problem-Solving
  • Strong analytical mindset with the ability to interpret complex data
  • Ability to troubleshoot data issues and provide pragmatic solutions
    Stakeholder Engagement
  • Confident communicator with the ability to explain data insights clearly
  • Strong relationship-building skills across technical and non-technical stakeholders
    Organisation & Delivery
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong attention to detail with a structured and organised approach
