Location: Working between our Dartford, Kent office and your home
Salary: £61,800 - £77,250 per annum (salary offered between this scale dependent on experience)
Contract: Permanent
Hours: Full time, 35 per week
Are you passionate about unlocking the power of data to transform decision‑making and customer experiences? Do you thrive in a role where you can shape the strategic direction of business intelligence and guide an organisation toward a data‑driven future?
We’re looking for a Business Intelligence (BI) Manager to lead our BI function and help us elevate the way we use data across the business. You’ll oversee the development of analytics capability, manage our insights delivery, and champion best practice in data engineering, reporting, and data science.
About the role:
As our Business Intelligence Manager, you will play a pivotal role in helping us become a truly data‑driven organisation. You will lead the development of automated reporting, enhance our data analytics capability, and ensure our colleagues and customers benefit from high‑quality insights. You’ll collaborate across the organisation, ensuring our BI tools, processes, and outputs are efficient, effective, and aligned with our strategic objectives. You’ll help shape our modern data platform (Microsoft Fabric) and lead the transition from legacy reporting to scalable, governed analytics. A key part of the role is balancing centralised BI with self-service capability across the organisation
What you’ll be responsible for:
Leadership & Collaboration
- Clearly communicate complex data findings to stakeholders at all levels.
- Build strong partnerships with data owners, stewards, and business leaders.
- Establish and nurture a BI community across the organisation, including training and development of analysts.
Data Insight & Problem Solving
- Lead proactive problem‑solving using analytics, visualisation, and data exploration.
- Provide insight that supports evidence‑based decision‑making.
Reporting & Analytics
- Oversee automated reporting across key areas including customers, colleagues, assets, health & safety and other internal departments.
- Maintain and refine existing dashboards to ensure they remain relevant and fit‑for‑purpose.
- Own and evolve a central semantic model, ensuring consistent KPI definitions while enabling controlled contribution from business teams.
Data Engineering & Data Science
- Manage data engineering pipelines from source systems through to end‑users.
- Ensure data science initiatives are practical, production-ready, and aligned to measurable business outcomes.
- Oversee documentation for BI, data engineering, and data science processes.
Governance & Standards
- Promote the adoption of industry data standards and frameworks.
- Configure Power BI Service, manage licences, and ensure best practice in Power BI Desktop.
- Support compliance with our Data Governance Framework, legislation, and policies.
- Identify and escalate emerging operational risks where needed.
Leadership & Resource Management
- Allocate BI resources effectively in line with organisational priorities.
- Support continuous improvement and drive best‑practice approaches to analytics and automation.
What you’ll bring:
- Strong expertise in strategic, operational, and tactical reporting.
- Deep knowledge of the Microsoft BI stack: SQL, Power BI, Azure / Microsoft Fabric, and modern data pipelines.
- Proficiency in T‑SQL, DAX, and Power Query.
- Understanding of ELT tools, data warehousing, Azure Data Engineering, and data science management.
- Awareness of star schemas vs wide tables, embedded analytics, automation, and continuous improvement.
